Community Developmental Disabilities Organization
Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas (DSNWK) is the CDDO for the 18 counties of northwest Kansas and works with affiliated agencies to ensure quality services are occurring in the community and are easy to access.
Consistent with provisions of the Developmental Disability Reform Act, the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services has designated a CDDO for every area of the state to help coordinate developmental disability services and supports. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities seeking services must first be determined eligible through the CDDO.
About
DSNWK CDDO is the single point of application for people desiring to receive information about community services or wishing to apply for intellectual and developmental disability services in northwest Kansas. Individuals seeking services in northwest Kansas will need to complete and submit an application for services.
The CDDO determines eligibility based on developmental disability criteria established by the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services/Community Supports and Services. Application information is then forwarded to the affiliated service provider chosen by the individual/guardian. Initiation of services is dependent on several variables, including preference of service location, choice of service provider, applicant needs, funding availability and types of services. A list of service providers in the CDDO area is available to each applicant.
All eligible individuals with developmental disabilities residing in the 18 northwest Kansas counties, who request services, shall have access to those services regardless of the severity of their disability. DSNWK CDDO and all affiliated providers may not discriminate in the selection of, or delivery of, services to an individual because of the severity of the person's disability, unless the Secretary of the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services determines that the person is inappropriate for community services because the person presents a clear and present danger to self or the community.
